OK, showing my age, Tyler, but when I went to JMU I don’t think there even was an ISAT side at that point. The only thing across the highway I ever knew about was the place where the basketball team played. The bands all played in the PC Ballroom, above PC Dukes or whatever the non D-Hall eatery was called. I saw Lois and Small Factory and Hose Got Cable there.
(And seriously are we the only 2 JMU grads in history to discover the internet. I seriously wonder.)
I saw a couple of MACRoCk shows in the PC Ballroom, like Black Mountain and Mates of State. That was also the venue for the fall and spring textbook rush, before the university tore up the tennis courts next to Gibson Hall. (I’m not sure what happened there in YOUR days - was that the gym?) Now PC Dukes (which, to my generation, was just “Dukes”) (PS. GO DUKES, etc.) is some fancy dining facility with sushi or something. But to me, it’ll always be the place where I’d get pizza that would practically become frozen the second you pulled it out from under the heat lamp.
Uh… just proving there’s another JMU grad out there who “discovered the internet.” And, Tyler, you liked The Donnas? Really? Maybe this is another one of your bands from our radio show that I’ve tried to block from my memory.
