Black & Orange People.
Tonight in my little hometown of Maynard, MA is the famed Black & Orange Night (those were our school colors) where literally everyone from the town gathers in the many Maynard bars to basically reminisce and get completely wasted. While I’m not usually a huge fan of this event, I have been known to attend/enjoy a few. Last year I even kinda sorta made out with my high school boyfriend and I wasn’t even drinking (he was). After which, my brother slapped him and then gave me the most evil drunk stare-down you’ve ever seen. Why? Because these are the kind of things that happen on this magical night. Oh how I miss Maynard at this time of the year!
I mostly brought up this topic because I was thinking it’s crazy how quickly time passes. Last year at this time, I had only just recently been accepted to school here but Poland still seemed so far off. I was telling people about it but it wasn’t real to me yet. Now, here I am and I almost can’t believe I actually pulled it off.
So while I’m a tiny bit nostalgic right now and sad to be missing Thanksgiving tomorrow, I’m ultimately glad I’m here instead. I have finally made my escape. Although, some turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole…….. would be so incredibly awesome right now. Ugh! Damn you, hotplate!
In conclusion… much love for the Dirty M. You guys will always be my home. I miss you and hugs from the other side of the world!
